If you are considering an elected position but have some concerns or questions about the experience or commitment, we have a solution. The SCDC will host a Candidate Workshop on Thursday, March 9, at the Sparta Library, beginning at 6:00. The ninety minute session will cover:

  • An Overview of Local Government Structure: Town, County, State
  • How to Get on the Ballot
  • Commitment: Town Council and Board of Education
  • Running a Campaign
  • Election and Finance Laws

The event will feature current elected officials and others experienced in running a campaign to provide an overview and answer your questions.

If you are considering a run for office but would like to know more, please join us. The deadline for filing a petition to be on the ballot is April third.
