New Jersey to Deliver More than 11,000 Doses of Opioid-Overdose Antidote Naloxone to EMS Teams Throughout State
“The opioid epidemic continues to take far too many of our friends and neighbors,” Commissioner Johnson said. “We’ve previously made naloxone available at no cost to residents, police departments, libraries and homeless shelters, and making it available for free to EMS teams is a sensible next step. We are committed to making naloxone as readily available as possible to as many people as possible – to save as many lives as possible.”

Governor Murphy Signs Legislation Authorizing Municipalities and Counties to Issue Coronavirus Relief Bonds
Governor Murphy today signed legislation (A3971) which authorizes municipalities and counties to borrow funds to cover revenue shortfalls and expenditures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, by issuing bonds and notes. The final legislation included improvements recommended by Governor Murphy in his prior conditional veto issued on July 30, 2020.

Governor Murphy Signs Legislation Criminalizing a False 9-1-1 Call Based on Race or Protected Class
Governor Phil Murphy today signed legislation (A1906), which would amend current law to include false incrimination and filing a false police report as a form of bias intimidation. The bill also establishes crime of false 9-1-1 call with purpose to intimidate or harass based on race or other protected class.

Gottheimer Votes to Save the U.S. Postal Service, Ensure Americans Access to Voting, Medication, Benefits
U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer voted to pass the bipartisan H.R. 8015, the Delivering for America Act. The Delivering for America Act requires the Postal Service to return to operations and levels of service that were in place on January 1, 2020, throughout the duration of the Coronavirus public health emergency and requires all election mail to be treated as First-Class mail.
